Gardening and Nutrition Experiences
for the Young Child


Role of the Educator:
  • Training professional and volunteer staff is important to the ongoing success of the project.
  • Because some adults are unfamiliar with the target vegetables and unsure about how to introduce them to the children, detailed background sheets for each vegetable are provided.
  • Guidelines to encourage staff and volunteers to serve as positive role models during snack and mealtimes when the target vegetables and new recipes are served are provided in the classrooms.
